Peels are an integral part of skin care and an excellent and effective treatment option for most skin types and concerns.As we age, the accumulated effects of pollutants, free radicals, sun exposure, stress and toxins can damage our skin and cause us to look older. This damage can be treated with the right type of peel such as, enzymes, AHA’s and TCA peels. A chemical peel is a technique using a chemical solution professionally applied to the skin which alter the PH of the skin and dissolves the protein bonds that hold cells together. Dead cells from this epidermal (superficial) layer fall or peel off and to help healthy skin cells rise to the surface. This allows deeper layers of fresh and untouched skin to be revealed. Newly exposed skin is regenerated healthier, smoother complexion that is more receptive to topically applied nutrients.

PRE-TREATMENT
Stop using all retinols, AHA’s, benzol peroxide and prescriptive topicals such as retin A. In some cases, it may be recommended for you to use certain products at home to prep your skin for optimal results from your treatment.
POST-TREATMENT
After some clinical treatments, it is possible to experience tenderness, redness, swelling, itching, peeling or flaking. Avoid retinols, AHA’s, benzol peroxide, facial scrubs. Avoid sun exposure as much as possible and be sure to use SPF with zinc oxide. Perscription topicals typically can be restarted within 48 hours unless otherwise instructed.

Post-treatment note: Immediately after the treatment the skin is red with a sensation similar to mild sunburn will be experienced.
3-5 days later the old skin will tighten and slough off through a physical peel which may last several days.

5-7 days following treatment a post “exfoliating” facial will be performed to remove any old skin.
